Inconceivable!

INCONCEIVABLE!

Name that movie!
“He didn’t fall? Inconceivable!
You keep using using that word- I do not think it means what you think it mean.”

So, What exactly does Inconceivable mean, then?
Inconceivable: adjective, not capable of being imagined or grasped mentally; unbelievable.
There's a difference between not knowing something and something being so out of the ordinary that it is literally unthinkable or unable to happen.

God leads us to the inconceivable in order for us to begin to understand His true scope of possible.
There is this incredible moment when God brings the Old Testament Prophet Ezekiel to a place of horrific loss. It’s inconceivable.
Ezekiel 37:1-14
English Standard Version (ESV)
The Valley of Dry Bones
37 The hand of the Lord was upon me, and he brought me out in the Spirit of the Lord and set me down in the middle of the valley (fast traveling?); it was full of bones. 2 And he led me around among them, and behold, there were very many on the surface of the valley, and behold, they were very dry. 3 And he said to me, “Son of man, can these bones live?” And I answered, “O Lord God, you know.” 4 Then he said to me, “Prophesy over these bones, and say to them, O dry bones, hear the word of the Lord. 5 Thus says the Lord God to these bones: Behold, I will cause breath to enter you, and you shall live. 6 And I will lay sinews upon you, and will cause flesh to come upon you, and cover you with skin, and put breath in you, and you shall live, and you shall know that I am the Lord.”
7 So I prophesied as I was commanded. And as I prophesied, there was a sound, and behold, a rattling, and the bones came together, bone to its bone. 8 And I looked, and behold, there were sinews on them, and flesh had come upon them, and skin had covered them. But there was no breath in them. 9 Then he said to me, “Prophesy to the breath; prophesy, son of man, and say to the breath, Thus says the Lord God: Come from the four winds, O breath, and breathe on these slain, that they may live.” 10 So I prophesied as he commanded me, and the breath came into them, and they lived and stood on their feet, an exceedingly great army. (Where even is this taking place?! Is it somewhere in ancient Israel? What happened to all the people afterwards? Is this some other realm where common-place spiritual truth is there visible reality?)
11 Then he said to me, “Son of man, these bones are the whole house of Israel. Behold, they say, ‘Our bones are dried up, and our hope is lost; we are indeed cut off.’ (is this how we ourselves used to appear before Jesus found us?) 12 Therefore prophesy, and say to them, Thus says the Lord God: Behold, I will open your graves and raise you from your graves, O my people. And I will bring you into the land of Israel. 13 And you shall know that I am the Lord, when I open your graves, and raise you from your graves, O my people. (He said it. Twice.) 14 And I will put my Spirit within you, and you shall live, and I will place you in your own land. (Where is your land?) Then you shall know that I am the Lord; I have spoken, and I will do it, declares the Lord.”
If you were old Zeke here, what would you have thought?
What do you believe is possible?
When people tell me God doesn’t miraculously heal people any more I laugh. It’s simply not true- God lives in a bigger universe than we can scarce imagine. I’m a tiny testament to His muchness.
Just like Zeke- sometimes God just picks you up and puts you places- go with it. When he leads you right up into Inconceivable’s front yard, you better stand with God and knock on the door.
“There is no use trying,” said Alice; “one can’t believe impossible things.
I dare say you haven’t had much practice, said the Queen. When I was your age, I always did it for half an hour a day. Why, sometimes I’ve believed as many as six impossible things before breakfast.”
Today’s reality was once considered impossible.
The telephone was impossible. But eventually there was one in every home.
The wireless phone was impossible. Not only does everyone have one, but we use them to connect to the entire world wherever we happen to be.
Recovering from a severe infection was impossible. In the U.S. Civil War more people died from diarrhea and infected wounds than in battle. When penicillin was discovered, the world changed.
The light bulb was impossible. When was the last time you turned on a light in a dark room and were amazed? You should be. The impossible happens every day right in your living room.
Flying was impossible. Then the Wright Brothers changed everything. Now we can fly to the other side of the world in a day. We can even fly to the moon.
The computer was impossible. Channeling the movement of electrons through well designed and impossibly small circuits has become a practice that we cannot live without.
All of these incredible inventions started with believing something that was impossible.
Pay attention and keep moving forward. You just might be caught up in the inconceivable. Learn to take your orders from God. Examine your assumptions. Challenge yourself. Dare to have what George MacDonald called, Holy Imagination. All of this isn’t just stuff to be regurgitated and repeated endlessly. You have been placed, exactly how you are, exactly here and now for the epic God is telling. You are a part of it. You always were. You always will be.
The question isn’t whether or not what you believe is inconceivable – adopt what God believes is possible and then discover how you can take what it is exactly that He has put inside you- what gets your blood pumping- what gets you really feeling- or caring- what excites you or moves you- and use it for him any way you can. God has placed it there for this very reason.
Don’t you dare say what is or is not inconceivable. It does not mean what you think it means…
