Your Local Lockup

Need a ministry?  Consider this:
(here's the link, I realize this is small): http://www.takepart.com/article/2012/09/04/life-without-parole-juvenile-injustice-system-infographic

Be a role model for somebody who doesn't have one.  Show somebody young that they have a future away from crime, drugs and gang life.  It's not an easy job, but maybe God needs you to do it.  I am a substitute teacher at a Juvenile lockup facility in New Mexico and I can tell you firsthand that the kids that commit crimes and are inside these facilities need somebody to look up to.  They usually don't have anybody who believes in them.  They turn to gangs, drugs, prostitution and other things because they have no self worth or self respect.  Nobody has told them that they are worth anything except what the world can take from them. They need Jesus.  Can you step up and give that to them?  Be Brave.  Jesus has got your back!  Consider volunteering with troubled youth,  IT DOES MAKE A DIFFERENCE.  I got the news today that 4 prior students of mine passed away over Christmas break,  4 kids under the age of 18 that did not know who Jesus was, or that there is a better way.  It doesn't have to be this way.  These kids are hurting and it is our responsibility to teach them what's right, because their parents simply don't care or aren't around.  This is a plea for activism,  Please consider serving locally.
Thanks!
